Who am I?

I’m an editor, writer and community consultant.

I’ve been in love with the online world since I first dialled up to the internet and looked at Red Dwarf quotes on a fansite (that was 1995). What a dork.

In 2003, I helped launch an online community for Adoption UK, which won Charity Website of the Year just nine months later. The experience shaped me and the community is still one of my proudest achievements. My book, Adoption and Fostering: A Parent’s Guide, was published in 2008.

Back in 2003, I also launched my own music website, Muso’s Guide, from the kitchen of my tiny house. Eight years later it is still going strong and was nominated for a brace of accolades at the Record of the Day Awards 2009 and again in 2010.

Unfortunately I’m too old and square to run it editorially anymore, and have handed over day-to-day control to two hipsters, yet to succumb to Radio 2.

Since then, I’ve been privileged to work in some amazing online newsrooms (including DailyMail.co.uk and The Sun) and for market-leading communities (including iVillage.co.uk).

As a freelance writer, I have been published in broadsheets, consumer magazines and leading consumer websites.

My consultancy clients have included large B2C publishers, leading UK charities and newspapers.

Up until January 2010, I worked as Head of Community Management at social media agency, FreshNetworks. A lovely company with a fantastic team.

In September 2009, I was highly commended in the Remote Worker Awards.

I have spent the last few years enjoying a portfolio career doing what I love: working with content and community, while spending precious time with my rabble three beautiful children.

I’m now back at the helm of the iVillage.co.uk community, an exciting challenge.
